Economics through a Macrofying Glass is the summer school for students passionately intrested in macroeconomics and public policy. This year's theme is The East vs. The West and the New Economic World Order. How will the crisis affect the current architecture of the economy? Which country will rise up to a higher status or which will consolidate its position worldwide? Who will prevail: the Western version of capitalism or its Asian counterpart?
25 students will attend the seminars taught by Mr. Bokros and conferences or talks of prominent economists from the public sector (IMF, NBR) as well as the private one (bankers, consultants, economists). For the speakers list, please consult the "Guests" section.
At the end of the summer school the students will have to produce collectively a working paper in which to sum up the things they have learnt throughout the project, what they have researched in the 9 days of summer school and what they already know about the topic. The most active participants will also receive prizes, in recognition of their constant involvement in talks, intriguing questions and overall inquisitive nature.
Our main guest is Lajos Bokros, professor at the Central European University and Chief economic adviser to the Prime Minister of Croatia. Prof. Bokros has a vast experience in the fields of macroeconomics and public finance, which he gained as Director at The World Bank, Economic adviser to the DPM of Poland, Minister of finance in Hungary, Chairman and CEO at Budapest Bank, Chairman and CEO at Budapest Stock Exchange.
The selection process consists of an application form and interview.
